Graduation Ceremony Details

The information below has previously been shared with the Grad Class group on Microsoft Teams. 



Greetings to the Class of 2020, 

We are writing today with the final details for our Graduation Ceremony.


It is important we follow the regulations and guidelines designed by public health to ensure the safety of our students and their families. Please observe physical distancing throughout the ceremony and make use of community masks where physical distancing is not possible. 


Friday, June 12

Gown Pick-up from 1:00PM - 3:00PM at the gym doors. 

NOTE: If the gowns do not arrive on Thursday, June 11, we will postpone pick up until Monday, June 15 at the same time and location. 


Monday, June 15

Release of our Grad Ceremony Video at 7:00PM

You will find the link to the YouTube video on all of our social media platforms and our school website several days prior to the launch.


Tuesday, June 16 (Day 1) & Wednesday, June 17 (Day 2) - Weather permitting

Personal Graduations 

  • Locate your date and time on the posted grad list (linked below)
  • Arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time at the Sydney Street doors. We would like to adhere to our schedule so as not to keep you waiting. Please do your best to arrive on schedule.
    • We are suggesting a maximum of 2 cars per graduate.
    • We recommend having a driver who can remain in the vehicle.
    • If no vehicle is available, you are welcome to walk through the circuit.
    • STM Staff will be on hand to assist should you arrive and have any questions or concerns.
  • The graduate will exit the vehicle along Sydney Street and prepare for their march. Family and friends are to remain in vehicles at this time. 
  • When directed you may turn down Leinster Street and get your vehicle(s) in position at the front steps and spectators may exit the vehicle to view the ceremony, take video or take pictures.
  • Graduate will be announced and will walk down Leinster Street to Front Steps where they will meet Mr. Stevens.
    • There will be a space marked out for the graduate.
    • Pictures will be taken by staff and posted at a later date and you are welcome to take pictures as well.
  • Once photos are done the graduate will walk to the Gym entrance to pick up their prizes, awards, and gifts. The vehicle(s) should move down Leinster Street, pick up their graduate and depart the area.
    • If you would like your photo e-mailed to you please leave your e-mail address with the teacher at the gym doors. 
    • Please make an effort to exit as quickly as possible so as to give the next graduate their moment. We would ask that groups not linger to see friends and that you seek additional photo opportunities elsewhere in the city. 
  • PLEASE NOTE: If the forecast is not favourable we will move the schedule forward one day. 
    • For example: If rain is forecast for Tuesday, then Day 1 would be Wednesday, June 17. 

Your Grad Bag will include; 

  • Your prizes and certificates
  • Grad program
  • Mrs. O’Hara’s famous silouhette
  • Your yearbook (if purchased)
  • A school pin
  • A front steps photo 
  • A card from your homeroom teacher 
  • Machy awards 
  • Lawn signs 


Just a reminder that grad fees are due. They have been reduced to $25 and can be paid via Cashless Schools.
