Summer Employment on the Kingston Peninsula
Peninsula Heritage
invites applications for a number of employment opportunities at either the John Fisher Memorial Museum and/or
1810 Carter House Tea Room. Currently we have 4 positions: 2 Site Managers & 2 Host - Guide positions. All positions run from June 25th to August 26th inclusive. Salary is $11 or $12 an hour, depending upon experience. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday,
daytime hours.
Note: As our funding falls under different programs we will receive and evaluate applications from students who are returning
to school in September, both high school and post-secondary, as well as applicants between the ages of 18 to 29 years. This latter group does not have to be a student nor be returning to school.
Host - Guide positions
Responsibilities will include:
Welcoming visitors to the tea room and museum; food handling and preparation, serving, and housekeeping duties. As well, you must be able to stimulate visitors interest in our local history and heritage; provide information on other sites and activities occurring
on the Peninsula and provide tours of Carter House and the Museum.
Qualifications:
Able to work collaboratively with people of all ages; demonstrate skills and values of the hospitality sector; have an interest in local heritage and history and have the ability to engage visitors and stimulate their interest in our sites. Previous food handling,
preparation and serving experience are a definite asset.
Site Manager positions
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the daily activities of the Peninsula Heritage site including operation of the tea room and kitchen (see Host - Guide responsibilities), scheduling and supervision of summer staff. As well you will be asked to be involved in the design and delivery
of special Canada 150 events as well as providing tours of both sites. Site Managers will also be required to assist our Host - Guides, as needed.

Summer Job
Peninsula Heritage Archive Assistant
Kingston,an historical Loyalist community in southern New Brunswick, is home to the Peninsula
Heritage John Fisher Memorial Museum and Archives. The Archive Assistant will help build the Peninsula Heritage Archives, established in 2016, into an accessible research resource. The incumbent will assist a team of community volunteers to preserve, arrange
and describe archival resources making them available to the public on site and through the digital archive.Collaborating with a team of volunteers and summer students, the assistant will enhance public access and interest in our heritage.
This position is of particular interest to students pursuing archival management, Canadian
history and rural development.
